And Then They Lived Happily Ever After

by Marinka on May 5, 2010

You guys! Did you see that some guy in Germany married his cat? It’s totally true, although I’m happy that another article clarifies that the ceremony was unofficial because marrying animals is not legal in Germany. Oof. I’m so glad that we won the Second World War. (We did, right? It’s ok to get rid of my yellow star?)

I admit it, when I first read it, I was judgmental. Like what kind of a fucking pervert marries an animal, unless the animal is really hot and loaded. But apparently, this cat, Cecilia, is obese and terminally ill. Now I’m not saying that obese terminally ill people can’t be really hot and loaded, but let’s just say that I’m suspicious about the timing.

So I decided to share this news item with the children, because I like for them to be well-rounded, and the first question that Young Ladrinka asks is if the cat is a boy cat or a girl cat. And I actually responded, “A girl cat, of course, what kind of a person would marry a boy cat?”

And Young Ladrinka said that maybe the person marrying was a girl and wanted a boy cat and I said, “first of all, there is nothing wrong with boys marrying boys and girls marrying girls, so I don’t even understand why you’re asking that, but second of all, it was a man who married a cat, he is a mailman, and by the way, the cat has a name and it’s Cecilia.” And Young Ladrinka said, “Ha! A MALE MAN!”

This is what the experts call a teaching moment, and I believe that I made my point about homosexual interspecies relationships.

Cats….clean animals, take care of themselves, don’t need to be walked. Maybe that cat, picked up groceries and folded laundry.. then maybe I can see it.. maybe….

See? Now you’re going to make all the other parents jealous because YOUR homosexual interspecies relationship teaching moment just fell right in your lap.

You should be in charge of the science and health curriculum there in NYC public schools.

I’d say you did at least a surface skim on beastiality, too, so you’ve really covered all lifestyles. I bet he’s a hoarder, too, and that’s why he can’t marry an actual human.
