Birthday List

by Marinka on April 27, 2010

If you’re like most people in the Americas and abroad, you’ve been thinking that Young Ladrinka’s birthday is less than two months away and wondering what you can get him. And because Young Ladrinka doesn’t want you to spend any more time worrying, or spending your husband’s hard-earned money on psychics, he thoughtfully compiled a list for just such an occasion. For some reason “handwriting lessons” did not make the list.

And because I know that the list is hard to read, here it is, annotated:

Silly Bandz. Young Ladrinka and his friends are obsessed with these freaking choking hazards. You wear them like a bracelet, but when you take them off, they each have a distinct shape. For example, Young Ladrinka has an iPod, a giraffe and a mermaid. He has the mermaid because it’s rare, not because he likes mermaids. His friend gave them to him, so I’m a little worried that they’re now engaged or something. We spend the whole weekend walking to various stores to see if they sold Silly Bandz and everyone was out. Amazon still has them though, and they are not expensive. An excellent gift idea for Young Ladrinka fans on a budget.

4 $50 gift cards to Game Stop. I don’t know if you have a Game Stop in your neck of the woods, but in NYC it’s a store that sells Bibles. And also sends all their profits to help orphans in Haiti. Well. The only good thing about this item is that Young Ladrinka has figured out that 4X50=200. See, he wants to buy a new Nintendo DSi, and I told him no, so he did some math and put it on his birthday list, assuming that I’m too stupid to figure out what’s going on here. I’m not sure, but I think he’ll accept 5 $40 gift cards as well. I’ll have to check.

A few iTunes cards. Just a few, nothing crazy.

iTouch Just one, no need to go overboard.

CDs Here’s hoping blank ones are ok!

Money Small, unmarked bills are preferred. Please remember that you can gift him $12,000, tax free every year. Why not enjoy the tax savings while you can?

And Pokemon cards Might as well. It’s not like it’s going to hurt anyone.

So, there you have it!

Happy shopping!

Tell Young Ladrinka that I stupidly bought 10 $20 gift cards to Game Stop but since those don’t appear to be acceptable, I’ll just send him my good wishes.

I love that he indicates quantities. He’s like those homeless men who ask not just for some ‘spare change’ but for ‘three dollars’. I trust those men didn’t once sit where Young Ladrinka does, asking for 4 gift cards.

I hope he checks every item at every gifting level off his list!

I love how he still believes in birthday lists. *sigh* They’re so sweet before life gets to them…

Happy Birthday to be!

Are you sure “CD” doesn’t stand for Certificate of Deposit?

Those silly bandz are a pain in the butt. I’m so tired of picking them up. Then again, I like slap bracelets at some point, so whatever.

Um…two months isn’t bad. I mean he’s just being helpful right? Ha.

Not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but make sure that Nikki doesn’t get into the Silly Bandz – they can cause all sorts of expensive kitty health issues that cost $$$.

Good luck to young Ladrinka on his quest for birthday bounty!

Yes, we have that damn Game Stop store in our area. IT is BAD!
My son spends alot of his hard earned money in that place. Heres to hoping when he gets his license later this year that he wont be blowing money there anymore.

I am a little concerned with the severe similarities between our boys. Maybe they should video chat and V can tell him how he finds ‘the rarest money sign silly band”, sells it to his friends for $3, thus making a $2 profit on every package.

My once 15 year old daughter now 16year old daughter wanted a Louis Vuitton bag for her Birthday and some itunes cards. I told her I can get her a fake one from canal st. She looked at me like I was crazy…..I looked back like she was crazy for asking for a real one! She got neither!

My child keeps coming home with those rubber bands. I’m not so worried about the choking hazard, as about the potential for cutting off the circulation to her hand and thereby causing gangrene.

Damn those Silly Bandz. I didn’t bother checking stores. Ordered two packs from Amazon (including the set with the mermaid…) and told my son that I was d.o.n.e. If he trades, breaks or loses them, so be it.

I think the iTouch is very reasonable. He could have asked for an iPad!

Oh the damn silly bandz. never heard of them before this week but now we are ob – freakin – sessed. I am the “worst mother ever” for not trekking to Hallmark store. He refuses to take his two off his arm, is afraid they’ll fall off in his sleep so he wears them around top of his arm totally cutting off circulation. Someone is making a killing off these things.
