Dance Moms is Coming Back! Sponsored Video! And Happiness!

by Marinka on May 26, 2012

You know how when you’re a kid, you wait all year for Christmas (or your own birthday) and then the big day comes and it’s great, but then eventually it’s over and as you go to bed that night there is a little sliver of sadness that the best day ever is behind you now and it’s going to be quite a while until you will have happiness again?

That’s sort of how I feel about my favorite shows. I’ve mentioned before that Dance Moms is one of the my very favorite trashtastic shows.

Because it has all the elements- a crazy main character: Abby Lee Miller, the lunatic dance studio owner/teacher/choreographer who I assume is off-camera chain smoker with a raspy voice, no tact and the psychotic belief that she knows the kids she teaches better than their mothers; the mothers- manicured glamour gals (the show takes place in Pittsburgh) who have yet to meet a glass of chardonnay that they didn’t like; the girls- talented (to various degrees) preteens/teens who are a lot nicer than anyone else on the show; and Cathy, a mom with an early Kate Gosselin hairstyle who left Abby’s studio to teach at her own and who constantly sets up to compete against Abby’s dancers and says crude and awful things.

By the way, can you please explain to me on what planet is Cathy’s daughter considered a dancer? She seems to be as much of a dancer and I am and I keep forgetting which part of my body are my feet.

So earlier this spring, when Dance Moms ended their season, I was entirely satisfied because (a) Abby’s favorite dancer, Maddie, messed up and Abby broke down. Like tears broke down. And Abby’s not a crier and (b) Abby had the girls do a routine that all the moms hated and when the girls didn’t even place, Abby stormed out. You know, instead of apologizing to the moms or conceding that she was wrong. (By the way, that was a spoiler for last season.)

So at the end of the season I was satisfied but sad. Because I knew that there would be a very long time to wait until Dance Moms came back.

BUT OMG.

Take. a. look:

Dance Moms is coming back on Tuesdays, starting June 5th, at 9/8C.

It’s like finding out that there are two Christmases in one year.

This post is sponsored by Dance Moms. But my obsession with the show isn’t. That comes from right here. (Pointing at heart. Or are those my feet?)

My favorite part is when they go to competitions, Abby pushes a little pink stroller with her little dog in it.

This really is a happy event. Also, Abby is like the opposite of Jesus. I ask myself WWAD? And then do the opposite when I want to be a good person.

Ah I just saw your reply. Well I personally think it’s super good because the moms are super rich and super bitchy, the dance teachers are super fierce and super gay and the kids are super super good. So yeah. Pretty super in my book lol.

Silly me does watch it for the dancing mostly though.

Damn! I have to start watching this show. I used to dance at a competitive studio (on the periph, not a star), and I am trying to stear my daughter away from dance because of my negative experiences. Sounds like his show is the perfect point of validation!

Can’t believe I didn’t get this sponsorship. Was it because I wrote against Dance Moms?

Do you change he channel when husbandrinka comes into the room? …or do you watch shamelessly? I have never seen the show – likely because I forgot that cable TV exists – but whenever my husband was deployed over the last 6 years, I watched humiliating shows like “Real Housewives of the Bayou.” And shut down the habit immediately when he came home. If I could watch them unashamedly in his presence, I would, but I can’t do I don’t.

Enjoy second Christmas, weirdo! Xoxo

I am a serious voyeur. I watch WAY too many of the reality shows. This is one on my long list. I record them so I can fast forward through the commercials. Hubby thinks they are all ridiculous. He doesn’t say much though because I usually watch while I’m in the kitchen preparing meals.

I’m convinced that bringing in Cathy and her two left feet kid was just to make sure we knew who she was. I’m pretty sure she already had her own studio.

I love this show. I really so. I also noticed that they called it Season 2, Episode 14 on my DVR instead of season 3. Soooooo yeah, just a ploy for more attention.

Did you watch the Miami one? I couldn’t get into it at all. I stopped watching halfway through episode one.

While we don’t have cable, I need to get my fix online, however, last week, I got to be a dance mom, too! And it was… uh… different: http://www.kveller.com/blog/parenting/my-week-as-a-dance-mom/
