Douche Cap

I wear a shower cap, do you?

You’ll be surprised how many perfectly normal looking people forego the shower cap, so you can’t always tell by appearances. Unless you sneak into the shower with the perfectly normal looking person, but that could be awkward.  But the next time you’re in a crowded elevator, or in the subway, or waiting on death row, look around you and ask–who among the people that you see has the moral fortitude to wear a shower cap and not get their hair wet every time they take a shower? By the way, if you decide to ask this question out loud, it may help to be naked and holding an open bottle of vodka, to get into character.

In recent years I’ve had my share of shower caps that have come to a tragic end.  A few were thrown in the laundry and since they are made of some kind of plastic, for some reason they melted.  A few were stolen. I mean, lost.  Many were mocked by shower cap foes.  It’s hard to maintain shower cap harmony.
My most recent shower cap has undergone something incomprehensible.  For no apparent reason, the elastic has started loosening at at unprecedented rate and the shower cap has gotten enormous.  Why is this happening?  And why is neither candidate addressing this?

Dude, shower cap. That makes so much sense. I kind of feel like an idiot now.

I think the cap was just preparing for halloween. Because it sure does look great on that pumpkin!

Total shower cap wearer over here. Although, mine are the cheap 99 cent ones, not the fancy ones your pumpkin prefers.

Showercaps! And all this time, I was just keeping my head out of the water… But a showercap would work so much better – no inevitable dampness. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Wow. There’s no question if I have the moral fortitude to wear a shower cap. I don’t.

I wear those fancy slim hair towels when I don’t want to wash my hair. I’ve mastered the art of washing myself in the shower w/o sticking my head in the water. A master!

It is pretty obvious what has been happening.

Your pumpkin has been sneaking into the bathroom and wearing your shower cap while you are away.

That will play havoc with the elastic every time. And then you gave the cap to the pumpkin? Well, you played right into his hands!

Personally, I use only fake plastic pumpkins with little bulbs inside. Hence, shower caps which continue to fit my head.

I am hoping your head is not as big as that pumpkin. So, when you store your shower cap on the pumpkin, it is naturally going to stretch. Duh.

PS – No shower caps in my house. The horror, right?

Has your head grown absurdly large recently?

I own neither a shower cap nor a blow dryer. Caution to the winds, and a wet head on the train platform.

Firmly in the no shower cap camp. Can we still be BBFs?? I go with a bun on top of my head and keeping my head out of the water.

Also, that last sentence made me choke on water.

I can’t believe how many of you shower without shower caps, like animals. I am shaking my head sadly here. Very sadly.

It must be a Russian thing.

Down here in the sweat zone, you must wash your hair daily to avoid the Wesson look.

Shower cap elastic loosening – yes! Finally someone has the political bravado to address a critical issue facing the average showering American! Thank you NYC Mom. Now let’s form a bi-partisan commission to study this hair-flattening epidemic and get to the bottom of it. Good hair for all Amerians!

If you cannot tell, I too am a shower capper and have been searching for a cap worth its salt.

I have to wash my hair every time I get in the shower. I live in Houston. We are sweating by the time we step out of the shower, even in December. So yeah, no shower cap here.
