Hypothetically Speaking

by Marinka on September 5, 2012

If you are supposed to drop something off at your friend’s house and she emails you to tell you that one of her kids has lice, it’s totally ok to send your husband and his-less-than-a-full-head-of-hair in your stead, right?

I’ll have a longer post, full of sound and fury (signifying you-know-what) soon.

No, not lice.  How dare you.

I feel your imminent guilt.
I once sent my then 34 year old brother-in-law on an errand.
If I remember it correctly he offerred. Volunteered even.
How was I to know that he’d never had chicken pox.
Really, what was his mother thinking?

You had no other choice. With your luscious locks you would have fallen victim to lice immediatly.

In similar situations, I’ve been known to drop items on the doorstep and run back to my car.

Would make husband deliver it with a disposable hat on.

Having experienced the horror and absolute pain in the ass of treatment of lice, I’d have offered to drop it in her mailbox. Otherwise she can wait for whatever it is until everyone’s head is free and clear. *shudder*

Even if I sent my mostly hairless husband I would then make him stay out of our home for 3-5 days. You know, just in case. Because once you’ve had lice you will never take a chance like that.

He could still bring them home. Make him wear one of those white coverall things they wear on CSI, or just drop it in front of their door, ring the bell, and run. That is permissible (from someone else who ‘enjoyed’ a kids time of lice)

Sending your husband is acceptable but it still posses a thread, so I would send one of neighbors who is bold.

The lady in the front office bared her arms and legs so we could see the red blotches covering her body. And then made us guess what it was. Fleas. I had not guessed flea bites.

*itching uncontrollably now*

Marinka? You live in NYC! Hire a courier. Seriously.

I get it.

Once my very dear friend Steve returned from a long vacation where he spent most of his time in Asia and that was the time that SARS was the BIG FEAR and we were ALL GOING TO DIE OMG and so he came over after his trip, and I made him stay outside, and I said hi through the door, and the beautiful wooden elephant he brought back from me ? I made him leave it in the garage for a few days to like… I don’t know… de-SARS-ify. And he’s totally forgiven me. That’s what friends do. 🙂

Please don’t think I’m crazier than you thought possible!

Hypothetically speaking, it would ALSO be totally okay to send it by courier. Hypothetically speaking, of course. 😉
