I See Your Teacup Puppy and Raise You a Salad Spinner Cat

by Marinka on April 22, 2011

Have you seen those teacup puppies?

Hi! We're teacup puppy heads!

source

Apparently they are puppies so small that they can fit into a teacup. Why this is a good thing, I have no idea. Probably some kind of a Tea Party scam.

I’m the type of weirdo who likes to have tea in her teacup and not a puppy. Who the hell was the first pervert who decided to shove a puppy into a teacup to see that if it would fit? And are they going to try to breed a puppy that will fit into a thimble next?

These dogs make me really nervous because if I was around one, I’d be in a state of constant anxiety that I’d accidentally crush it or inhale it or something. Who needs that kind of stress?

As far as I’m concerned, no pet should ever be in any eating or drinking orifice. Er..serving orifice. Like a cup.

Except this morning, Nicki positioned herself in the salad spinner. And we saw that it was good.

Nicki finds comfort in having a sharp knife nearby at all times.

And then she relaxed. And we all stood around and said “aww!” for about 15 minutes. This is exactly why Nicki is everyone’s favorite family member. When I tried to squeeze into the lasagna pan the response was nowhere near as enthusiastic.

"Start spinning anytime!"

By the way, my lovely daughter took these photos. She asked for photo credit on my blog, but then changed her mind and said she’d take a Frappuccino instead. Probably in a teacup.

Nicki is freakin’ cute! And wow, they fit TWO puppies into one cup in that picture. That’s just, freaky.

For you, I will pretend to be a cat person, virtually at least.

I almost didn’t open this post solely because of the phrase “teacup puppy.” I HATE THEM!!! What exactly is the point?

I am SO not a cat person, but I will admit that Nicki looks pretty cute. I’ll just have to remember to never eat a salad at your house….;-)

Don’t think there is anything in the kitchen my dog would fit in. Even the kitchen itself is a tight fit.
Which headpiece would you choose for Nikki? If it was that kind of a photo shoot.

I don’t get pets that fit in things, like purses or what the hell? CUPS?

Our giant cat can’t fit into anything, but she has usurped the ottoman and will cozy up to your feet/push them off when you try to share.

Congrats on the photographer in the family. She’s great.

Honestly, I couldn’t love your daughter more. I’d always take a frappuccino over a photo credit.

Mmmm….cat ass on your salad. Yummy! Next you’ll be serving hairball soup. I’ll be sure to stop by.

Your cat is way cuter than the teacup puppies. I’m not sure I see the point of extra-tiny puppies either–NYC apartments are small, but not that small!

The next time I see you remind me to tell you the story about the woman who sat on a teacup puppy and killed it. I’m totally serious.

So this is how I have to find out that Yuliya is not a cat person. I’m not sure we can still be friends.

The word “in a teacup” has my scared to open anything up, after what I saw on the internet 2 years ago the last time I opened up a posting with the word “teacup” in it.

Teacups are no match for the rats in Manhattan. The smallest I’d go is a full-size Chihuahua.

I’m not a cat person but Nicki is very cute.

Is Nicki looking down at you in the lasagna pan in that first photo? Her expression says, “You don’t wear that nearly as well as I do, darling.”

Great photos! I always worried about that too – isn’t there a high rate of people accidentally stepping or sitting on these little dogs?

Awwwwww is right. I want me a teacup puppy for 45 minutes. Just to snuggle and then give back.

Returning home from vacation, this was the post that caught my eye. Kudos, Marinka, for the most hilarious post title EVER. You could have written about your scintillating lunch of chicken soup and I would have loved it. Because of the title.

Fucking teacup puppies. Bred by Earl Grey.

I used to have a teacup Maltese. And the most distressing thing about the teacup breeds is the pricetag. She was like beluga caviar – hundreds of dollars by the ounce. And still shit all over my house.
