I’m Right, You’re Wrong: The Fashion Edition

by Marinka on February 7, 2012

It’s been a while since I had the I’m Right, You’re Wrong feature on my blog. That’s mostly due to my agreeable personality–it’s hard to come up with something that someone disagrees with me about!

But finally, I was able to eke something out. As always, I will not tell you what position I’m taking so as not to prejudice your voting.

Disagreers: Young Ladrinka, 10 and Marinka, not 10.

Disagreement: Is this outfit a fashion Hit or Miss?

Warning: Do not look directly at image

Position One: It’s orange and orange looks great!

Position Two: This outfit is something that you wear if (a) if you want to blind the people who will see you; (b) you want to induce a seizure in the people who will see you; (c) you are a prisoner being transported; or (d) you are dressed as a hazard cone for Halloween.

Your vote, please.

I’ve been rendered speechless. Right before my retinas blew, I thought two things: “Hey, cool bedspread!” and “AAAAAAAAAAGH MY EYES WHAT THE CRAP NOOOOOOOOOO..”

So. No. It’s a miss-take.

Well obviously it’s orange. And orange looks great.

It’s perfect! If you’re auditioning for the lead role in the YouTube hit video: The Annoying Orange! (although the pants look a little salmon-y on my monitor)

i’m going to vote for it’s gross unless you’re only staying at home and no one’s coming over and all the lights are off.

My position on orange is that it entirely depends on the person wearing it. I can’t do orange. It makes me look orange. Maybe you can? But I can’t.

it’s marginally better than my son’s preference for blue and clashing chartreuse green.

that is truly an awful outfit that only a male could put together and I agree with Peajaye the pants look more salmon than orange

Yes it’s a disaster. But at least he’s willing to get dressed. You wouldn’t believe the color combinations I’ve allowed to leave the house in the morning just for the sake of having them up and dressed.

I don’t think youn Ladrinka will have a great career as a stylist ahead of him…

I go with “are there visible stains,” “does it smell (a lot)” and “did he dress himself without me screaming at him (a lot)” If the answers are no, no, yes, then I say that outfit sashays outta the house and into the streets. Someone might want to hand out sunglasses to the passersby, is all.

Firstly, they don’t match at all. The pants are a salmon/melon color and the tanktop is actually orange. So I agree with position 2.

I’m 100% behind mannahattamamma. Mostly clean? Not too smelly? Dressed himself? It’s a winner in my book. Unless he’s going somewhere where people will judge *ME* based upon his outfit…then all bets are off, LOL. But for everyday wear, I have no problem with this.

The two oranges don’t even go together. Rejected.

I agree with Jen. Orange is okay, but they have to match each other. That said, I’ve rarely argued with my girls about clothes. It’s such a waste of time and energy. If we’re attending a family wedding, then yes, I’ll be dictating what you’re wearing. Otherwise? In the words of Madonna: “Express Yourself”.

Didn’t you hear that orange is the hot color for Spring 2012?

Tell him he’ll look like Laura Carrot from “VeggieTales”. That oughta do it.

I first read the post on my phone and couldn’t see the picture so I assumed Young Ladrinka was schooling you. Who cares what kids wear? Though I would dress everybody in a spacesuit to keep them safe – and hey there are some orange ones!

As a long-suffering Baltimore Orioles fan, I see nothing wrong with the orange. But that may be why I’m long-suffering.

It’s not even close to great. I can see where he was going in his logic…but the oranges clash and the navy sides just seem too forced to be great. It’s a miss, for sure.

A definite miss. Unless you are running a marathon. Trying to be spotted by snipers. Or promoting “eat more carrots”.

Honestly, I’m just so impressed that he has made an attempt to make his clothes “match” that I’m willing to overlook the possible blinding hazard.

I think paired with a nice orange parka that could be the new look of fashion week.

I am certainly the wrong person to answer this question, since I am not feeling light-hearted these last few days, and this is meant to be a funny question. But my position, which I will tell you anyway, is that (a) orange seems to be the new fascination in elementary school (my son just requested intensely orange sport pants); and (b) both of my children are convinced that if all the items are ____ [fill in the blank with color of your choice], minor details of shade and combination are irrelevant. My daughter lately left the house wearing a midnight blue velvet dress, cadet blue leggings, an aqua coat, and deep turquoise socks. She declared herself “blue-tastic” and sashayed on out the door. My feeling is that there are far more serious things to worry about. 😉
