My Baby!

by Marinka on April 11, 2011

Young Ladrinka, age 9, left for a five day trip with his class this morning.

I thought that I was going to be ok, but I’m completely sad and miss him a lot.

He foresaw this happening.

“You’re not going to cry tomorrow, are you?” He asked me as he was going to sleep.

“I’ll try not to,” I promised him. “What about you?”

“I’m going to cheer!” he said. “A week without siblings!”

I’m sure he’s just masking very deep pain.

“Don’t take this the wrong way,” he told me this morning, “but I’m going to miss Nicki most of all.”

Nicki is our cat.

She’s very missable, what with the whole shitting in the litter box with a stench that could wake the dead and coughing up hair balls. As compared to say, YOUR MOTHER, who has fine grooming habits and always flushes after herself.

So, to recap: My baby left me this morning and I’m all alone. You know, except for Husbandrinka and my daughter and Nicki.

And Nicki’s litter box.

The fact that he’s all ready to go and isn’t worrying about being away from you for five days means you did your job right. So really this is a victory for you. #winning

I’m sad FOR you. I am sad when I leave my kids to go to the gym! I work all day so I have this mommy working guilt, too. I’m guilty all the time. And as for missing your son? He’ll be back before you know it. But still. It’s HARD AS HECK, isn’t it? I got overly emotional last night, going through all the paperwork from my son’s kindergarten class. I can’t even throw out any newsletters or anything from his teacher. I’m sobbing because he’s going into grade one in the fall! He will have to eat lunch without me/my mom/my grandmother/my mother-in-law/my husband watching him, or reminding him to eat. WAH!!!!!!

give him about a day and a half – then he’ll fall asleep crying for you. All boys miss their mothers at that age.

At least you don’t have a pet rock.
These five days will probably drag for you. I miss my son when he is in Preschool three hours. On the bright side, when he returns, he makes up for it. Time will fly for you once again, next week.

I would have put the litter scooper in his backpack.

I feel your pain. I’m supposed to go away with my husband without the kids for the first time ever next month, and I’m freaking out. Sigh. I hope ladrinka keeps his cool the whole time – and you end up enjoying the break! Hugs.

On the upside, you now have plenty of free time to talk to Mama about her dry vagina.

Peajaye said it all. Also, I wish somebody will take MY kids away for a couple of days. Only so their mother will be able to attain better grooming and less smell-of-cat.

Who are you KIDDING?!?! You are heading to New Orleans in two days to live it up with out said kiddo. Perhaps I will buy you a cocktail so you can drown your sorrows away while thinking about Nicki. Who knows, you’ll might miss that stench too (and of course the kids; of course). But I wouldn’t be above leaving them a little note reading saying, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m going to miss Nicki most of all.”

I just left Harlan for the first time since she was born last weekend. It was the hardest thing for me to do, but so rewarding having the time to myself!

I was away from my older girls this weekend and I really missed them. But they were just as annoying with all their whining and needs when they came back.

Young boys are oddly immune to the stench of cat poop. And hairballs ARE great fun, can you blame him?

But five days? That’s a long time to ponder his lack of love for you. 🙂

Whenever I start to miss my kids I picture their worst screaming tantrum. It usually helps, but not for long because I also remember the smiles…

Just remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder….if that’s even possible.

My husband calls the litter box the poo poo platter.

I feel bad for you and all but I’m still trying to figure out why you didn’t sneak Nicki into his suitcase. Poor planning my dear, poor poor planning.

Wait, schools take our young ones away for 5 days?? Where did they go – Sing Sing?

I’m sad for you, I bet he’s crying into his pillow right now. (but possibly over Nikki).

I totally get the missing my baby thing. But when both the husband and the girl are gone? After that initial first night of “Oh, I’ll never deal with this, how can I live without them!”, I kind of revel in the alone time.

Because, obviously, I’m hateful.

Also, one of our cats decided to hurl up something that defies nature on the ONLY rug on the entire floor of the house. I hate her, a little bit.
