My Husband Has the Worst Celebrity Sightings

by Marinka on November 11, 2008

Since Husbandrinka and I have been together, here is a partial list of the celebrities that I’ve spotted in NYC: Woody Allen, JFK, Jr., Yoko Ono, Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Liv Tyler, Kelly Ripa, Isaac Mizrahi, John Waters, Eric Clapton, Isabella Rosselini and Beverly Sills.

This is a complete list of celebrity that Husbandrinka “thought he saw”: Elvis and “the girl who I think was in a commercial once”.

Clearly, I was winning. But all this changed on Friday:

My husband was in Los Angeles all last week and yesterday he told me, “I swear, this woman was the flight attendant on the flight back to Newark.”

And possibly our children’s new mommy, I’m guessing.

New mommy! Surely not. She has this evil sinister look about her, that I’m sure only flight attendants can acquire. Plus, one can’t love planes and flying as well as fellow human beings. It’s a well known axiom. No need to worry Marinka!

Husbandrinka and I should hang out. These are the kinds of celebrities I see too.

Better yet, I often see Polish celebrities, but because I rarely watch Polish television, I DON’T RECOGNIZE THEM. So I’m all, I very well could have seen a billion celebrities, but I don’t know it.

that was great! (I love your list of sightings. I’m coming for a visit……)

I can’t even think of a single celebrity I’ve spotted. But maybe I’m not looking. Or maybe celebrities are just not hanging out in Houston so much.

I don’t see any celebrities, either I’m not looking or they’re not hanging out in the suburbs of Houston. I see sports figures, but I hardly ever kno whow they are until it’s too late.

My New York sightings were

Kevin Bacon, Woody Allen, JFK Jr., Tony Randall, Dr. Ruth, Kirk Douglas, Grant Alexander and I’m sure I passed Marinka at some point too!

OH and I got engaged in the building Eric Claptons son fell out of. Although that is very sad.

I have your husbands affliction, I get names mixed up and my husband always does this thing.
“Did you see him”
“Who”
“Him in the blue shirt”
I start scanning behind me for people in blue shirts.
“It was Dave Matthews”
What do I get to see – the back of some guy, who could be anyone!

He does it all the time, tells me who it is once they have passed me, so I’ve seen the back of some celebrities.

He has you beat on this one.

I once saw Jay Leno in a Jack in the Box drive through when I lived in LA. That was about it for my celebrity sightings during four years in the City of Angels.

I’m sure I have seen plenty of celebrities, I just don’t remember.

My husband has seen them all, apparently, although he has terrible facial recognition, so in reality? Could have been anybody.

Like, I totally do not believe that Gwyneth Paltrow was working the supermarket checkout, no matter what he says.

The thing about celebrity sightings in New York is … it feels like the celebs are just living life. No paparazzi. No flash & dance. Just life. Last time I was there, I walked right by Zach Braff and didn't even notice until my brother pointed him out. Waaaay better than the L.A. celebrities… gah!

We only get to see all of the Amish that were featured in the movies “Witness” and “For Richer of Poorer” here. Husbandrinka beat us before the flight attendant.

I live in Iowa… never seen a celebrity before. My friends husband did tattoo Jason Mewes. She also was at the same bar as Christopher Knight and Adrienne Curry when they were here.
But those are just second hand sightings….

I’m thinking you should hunt her down and totally kick her ass.

I’m just sayin’.

There’s no harm in being too careful.

Living in DC we have the WORST celeb sightings. I’m 99% sure I saw Newt Gingrich at Nordstrom last night in the lingerie department. Pervert.

Oh, you win. I lose to Husbandrinka though. The only celebrity I’ve ever seen is Carrottop. Does that even count?

That sounds just like my husband! He wouldn’t recognize a celebrity if they had a nametag on and a blinking arrow above their head! A flight attendent however…..I love reading your blog, thanks for the laughs!
