Oh, It Matters

by Marinka on December 12, 2009

This afternoon my kids and I stopped at the GAP to take advantage of their super sweater sale, during which both kids decided that they don’t want any sweaters, my daughter rolled her eyes at their exclusive Stella McCartney collection, and my son announced that he wanted to switch from briefs to boxers.

The problem was that they did not have the style of boxers that he wanted in the size that he needed, so I tried to persuade him to get a different style.
“No,” he said, holding up a pair of the preferred boxers that would comfortably fit Barbie’s Ken, “let’s get these.”
“They’re not your size,” I told him again.
“Who cares?!” he was getting frustrated. “It doesn’t matter!”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, and I use both terms loosely, how I came to announce in the middle of the Boys Department at the Gap, “OF COURSE SIZE MATTERS! NOTHING MATTERS MORE THAN SIZE!”

I hope that pronouncement doesn’t haunt him through middle age!

I feel your pain. I went through hell with two teenage girls shopping. I finally got smart and handed them the amount of money I wanted to spend and kicked them out of my moving car at the mall.

They actually shopped sale racks and budgeted. When shopping with me they wouldn’t dare buy from the sale rack. Best thing that I ever did. Except for the moving car thing which of course is an exageration. But….I did want to do that.

Well, it’s a good lesson. And this way, he’s sure to remember it.

Hahahaha…this is great.
I can tell you’re one of the people that I love to listen in on because they say such gems at the most inopportune time. Some days, I devote my entire blog entry to “the things people say” (and that *I* overhear lol)

Hey, he was going to hear that some time. Better to know it soon. Besides, the size of underwear DEFINITELY matters. Especially for boys. Again, a lessons he’d better learn soon. Which means you might have to get him one pair of too-small boxers and make him wear it. You know, it’s best to learn from experience.

I know. I am no help at all.

Well, maybe it’s best that he heard it from you first, no?
