Young Ladrinka: Mom, I want to use the computer.

Marinka: I’m using it now, sunbeam.

Young Ladrinka:  Why do you get to use it?

Marinka: Because I’m using it for work.

Young Ladrinka:  Well I want to use it for games.

Oh computer wars. Seems like half of the time I tell my 3-year-old that I’m working on the computer, I’m reading sports analysis.

Why are we at the bottom of the computer chain?

Why do they walk in the door, and say, “I gotta get on, mom.”

Oh, right, they’re just imitating Daddy.

Oh yes…I have this conversation daily. (If by “work” you mean blog.) I tell my husband I’m working and read blog. This is a useful cover since I actually do work from home on rare occasions.

And that’s why I always kept an old computer around for my kids…

This is why my angels have their own computers.
Of course, the oldest goes to school online so he kind of needs one. But it also helps me avoid having a billion and one Pokemon youtube links saved to my desktop.

Hmm…I wonder how long you’ll be able to get away with calling him sunbeam.

He totally looks like a sunbeam.
By “work,” you mean “angry birds.” Right?

Have you been at my house? Which would be weird, actually, since I don’t really know you. Maybe next time he asks, that little sunbeam of yours, you should tell him that YOU are playing games, so just back the hell off, darling. Clearly “work” is not a word in their language.
