She’s Going to Get a Book Deal Before I Do, Isn’t She?

by Marinka on May 1, 2010

My daughter announced this morning that she is writing a book about cat ownership. We’ve had Nicki for over a year, so obviously she’s totally qualified.
She’s been working on it all morning, poor thing, completely unable to help me with the dishes or the laundry. Artists really have to sacrifice, you know.

She made a chart to explain our domestic situation:

And in case you need some further details

Maybe she’ll introduce me to her agent.

Had it been a Venn Diagram, she’d have gotten an advance on her second book, already.

The forks part cracked me. I love that she counted the forks.

I think my problem as a writer all along has been a total inability to read or create charts. Or enjoy cats.

This right here is why I have chosen to work with children in life. There is no adult who would include forks and frogs in that diagram.

The chart is brilliant. If we did one of those in my house, the human section would be so miniscule, you wouldn’t be able to see it, and the large purple space would be taken up by pugs and My Little Ponies. We must have our priorities, mustn’t we?

If she gets a book deal from those charts, I want her agent’s number.

No wonder she won’t give you her laptop.
