Texts From a Marriage

Me: Where are we on the Basset Hound puppy situation?

Husband: I don’t even begin to know what you’re talking about.

Me: I’d like to have a Basset Hound puppy. I had a Basset growing up. And then as a grown up. You loved Mavis too, right?

Husband: Mavis was a good dog.

Me: So, a Basset Hound puppy. I’m sure I can talk the kids into it.

Husband: Sorry, I have to work this morning and not waste mental energy thinking about basset puppies.

Since he didn’t say no, it’s definitely a yes!

Man, you’re brave. Puppies are so much work! Although, it WOULD be impossible for him to say no to an adorable puppy face.

They both stank.
The line sounds like a good title for the novel.

That was not only a “yes” but also a “I’m trying to play it cool but I’m TOTALLY planning on surprising you, when I come home from work, with a Basset Hound puppy!!!” Feel free to name your new puppy after me! 😉

Your nuts. Puppies are exhausting. It’s like having 5 kids.
