Every winter, Mama and Papa treat the  kids to the New York City ballet, to see the George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker.
Although where Young Ladrinka is concerned, “treat” may be a strong word.

First you showed us the front of your head on Twitter, now this??? What is the world coming to?
BTW, I too am honored 🙂
Love that photo. Even with the tears they are gorgeous.
I believe that he wasn’t going on that night as he was ill????
Yes, whenever he’s sick, we make him put on a suit and tie.
I think he was sick another year. Probably on purpose.
Thanks for taking them to the Nutcracker all those years. As I always say, “better them than me!”

The Nutcracker freaked me out too. Hate it. Creepy nutcrackers.
And the dancing rat…(shudder)
I wish I could take my kid to see the nutcracker ballet. He’s not 3 yet, so he can’t go into any show, kiddy oriented or otherwise.
I just made this noise that sounded more like a bark than a laugh because the laugh came out so hard. That photo is PRICELESS. 100% captures the difference between boys and girls when it comes to The Nutcracker.
My boys were bored to tears the year I brought them and pleaded with me not to go again the next year. Sigh. Culture. It be for other families, I guess.
That expression is priceless! Love it!
BTW, Your kids are beautiful.
I have super suggestion for this year- instead of the traditional Nutcracker- which is ALWAYS a spectacular production- why not suggest Pappa take the children to see the Mark Morris Dance Group at BAM- titled The Hard Nut.
It’s a more modern take on the traditional Nutcracker- and loads of funny bits.
Young Ladrinka AND Pappa would certainly bond over it.

Young Ladrinka- you may thank me come December.
Best-
The Lady Ashefield
Your kids have dark hair! There is no evidence of your beautiful paleness. Believe me, I understand, because I married a Filipino and my kids look like little Xeroxes of my hub.

That expression is hilarious.
Love the picture! Definately worth a thousand words.
I fell asleep during the Nutcracker.
BTW, w/ Ladrinka’s current vocab, I think trying to get him to a show called the “Nutcracker” would go over even less well this year. Or is is “balls?”

I absolutely LOVE the Nutcracker!! However, I can see how your son may not. My poor brother came to see it when I was dancing in it as a child and asked 1) When halftime was?! 2) When they were going to start talking 3) Can we go home this stinks!
So I can see how he might be “sick” 😉
This picture made me smile. Also, your children are beautiful!
My children were So disturbed by the white tights on the male dancers they now call it “The “Butt racker”. I guess that’s better than “That Play with the Guy with the Enormous Balls” which is what I was thinking.
Uh, that should have been Butt Cracker.
