Twitter, Where Have You Been My Whole Life?

by Marinka on May 27, 2010

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that I love Twitter. Where else can you have a meaningful life-affirming discussion with Kathy Ireland and get Real Housewives of New York‘s Kelly to follow you?

Awesome.

One of the sorrows of my life is that Twitter was not around during my formative years. And I think I speak for everyone when I say that it’s a loss for the entire country.

Here are the sample tweets that you could have seen, if Twitter had been invented earlier.

I am grateful that there wasn’t Twitter when I was in high school and college. I’ve read my old diaries, and it pains me to think anyone else might have been exposed to such a lethal combination of angst and self righteousness.

This is SO FUNNY.

I think twitter/blogging/FB all save people from the lonely teenage years…it really keeps us feeling less isolated, and more of a group…

It would’ve saved me many nights of tears from low self esteem of my undeveloping body…

i’m happy twitter wasn’t around when i was a teen. it would’ve been another way to be rejected by boys. kelly “followed” me after last week’s episode, then she was gone a few days later. i’m assuming she read the tweets i posted about her and changed her mind. oh well.

Wow. Excahnge all the “Heathers” with “Sophies” and it would have been my tweet. Except, off course, I would have added much more existential bull between 1985-1992, and also I had the army thing, so got married at 1997 and graduated 1999. Ah well.
