Glamorous

by Marinka on June 25, 2010

Earlier this week, I had a tooth extracted.  Fortunately it was way in the back, so I’m not yet ready for a Jerry Springer appearance, but it was still very ouchy.  Husbandrinka asked how I was feeling and I bravely admitted that I was fine, although I predicted that I’d take a turn for the worse at around the time that the kids had to be shepherded to bed and again the following day when it was time to do the laundry.

And I was right.  It’s like I’m some kind of an Oracle.

But  a few weeks ago, before I lost my tooth (Toothy! I’ll always remember you!), I decided to become glamorous.  I wasn’t sure exactly what it would entail, but when I came home, I had a package from Avon, with five of their new Glazewear lip gloss.  That they sent to me to try because, I’m assuming, they believe in rehabilitating the glamour-deprived.  And I, a 40-something year old mother of two, and friend to many, locked myself in my bedroom, tried on glaze after glaze, modeled it in the mirror by making Pouty Mouth and envisioning a “separated at birth” spread with me and Angelina and tried to pick my favorite silky, velvety, glossy, wonderful color.  Not an easy feat.

I asked Husbandrinka.

“What do you think of my new Glazewear?” I asked him.

“What?” he asked.

“What-what?” I treated him to my soon-to-be-trademarked Intense Plum Glazed Pout.

“You mean lipstick? It’s fine.”

This is what I have to live with, ladies and gentlemen.

But you don’t have to!

Because Avon wants you to be glamorous too!  So go check out the Glazewear shades and let me know your favorites in the comments.  I will randomly select two lucky winners to get five Glazes, so you can recreate my fun experience in the comfort of your home*!

US entries only, please.  And make sure that you can handle the glamour.

* Husbandrinka not included.

I like Apple Cinnamon and Mauve Movement. But most of all I love the ridiculous names companies like to give their lip glosses 🙂

I like apple cinnamon but is sparkle really glamorous? Maybe mauve movement but that just sounds like a bad body function which is decidedly NOT glamorous…

I like Apple Cinnamon too, also Cherry Liqueur 🙂

I like the “Crimson” color. It might not even work on me, but it’s pretty and I’m a Sooner…Crimson and Cream baby!!

I like the shine collection. My little skinny lips don’t need intense color to emphasize the fact that they are barely there. No chance of being mistaken for Angelina’s long lost sister.

I like Darling Pink, Apple Cinnamon, and Brown Sugar best. I love your blog, your sense of humor completely cracks me up.

I’m in love with the darling pink and the clear SPF. I am nothing if I’m not boring and practical!

Agree, mauve movemen is an odd name. But darling pink, just darling 🙂 that’s my fave

I, too, like the apple cinnamon and as well as the rave. 🙂 Although, they also look like every other color of lipstick/ lipgloss I have… Maybe I should branch out?

I too had a toothy pulled on Tuesday. Same as you, not quite ready for Springer since it was way in the back, and I was assured I wouldn’t miss it (my off kilter head begs to differ since I’m now uneven!).

BTW, I’ll take some “Tickled Pink” because you tickle me my dear 😛

I think I like the brown sugar or the island glow — hard to tell from the picture.

Clear with SPF 15!

Clear for the beach, intense plum, cherry liqueur, mirage, and tickled pink!

Lisa June 26, 2010 at 1:26 am

I’m going to choose the clear, I love SPF on my lips. 🙂

my two fav colors are intense plum and mauve movement; that said, mauve movement is not a good name.

I like brown sugar and island glow. And I like the thought of hiding in my bathroom, trying them on and pouting like Angelina. Nice.

cherry liqueur for my dark side and tickled pink for the occasional innocent me.
So sorry to hear about toothy! Ouch!

Cherry Liquer, please.

darling pink and mauve movement!

Darling Pink, Mauve Movement and Apple Cinnamon would be my favorites. After those, I’d say Tickled Pink, then Crimson.

“Not yet ready for a Jerry Springer appearance”? Shoot. Because You? On Jerry Springer? Would be freakin’ hysterical! Even with all your front teeth intact. 🙂

I think I would try the Mauve Movement, but their description of “shining like a supernova” scares me a bit!

Love reading your blog!! 🙂

I like crimson and cherry liqueur, though if the name weren’t so dumb, I would probably reach for “darling pink” first of all in the summer time. But seriously, what grown woman wears “darling pink”?

Reply

Susan June 26, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Crimson and Cherry Liqueur should be mine. Mauve Movement sounds like something that happens when you’ve eaten too much oddly colored ice cream…and don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.

I like Darling Pink and Cherry Liqueur. Loved “Husbandrinka not included”, cracked me up for a while.

I like the tickled pink and the cherry liqueur, and I must have some glamor added into my life, the sooner, the better. Please please pick randomly me!

Oh damn and hell, US entries only.
let me cuss in another non-US language, as well: לעזאזל!

I love the names “Island Glow” and “Brown Sugar.” I would feel glamorous wearing something called “Island Glow.” In terms of color, I like
“Tickled Pink” best. Good luck with your recovery!

Shannon June 27, 2010 at 2:24 pm

Digging the names! Still, if I must choose 2 then Darling Pink and Clear. Practical, yes, but still a way to glam it up when the kiddle has gone to bed!

Rock on,
Shannon

I like Darling Pink and Cherry Liquor. I first read it as Mauve Moment, and then realized it was Movement. I liked Mauve Moment better.

Angelique June 27, 2010 at 11:31 pm

Apple Cinnamon and Cherry Liqueur are my favorites. Hope you have fully recovered from your tooth troubles!

Reply

Shannon June 28, 2010 at 12:29 am

Tickled Pink and Mauve Movement are my favorites, despite the poor name choices, but I’m not sure I want to shine quite as bright as a supernova lol.
Sorry to hear about the tooth, but a good excuse to watch girly tv in bed if you ask me!

Reply

Crisanna June 28, 2010 at 10:36 am

Ok, I definitely should have looked at the choices before the comments because now I’m having a hard time not thinking about how I could be the lucky winner of cherry liqueur (and the not the kind that would merely stay on my lips)!

I don’t know what color I like because I cannot afford to buy it. I would love to try it, especially since my husband left me a week ago and I will need all the help I can get to hook me a new man!

MsDolfinn June 28, 2010 at 12:11 pm

I gotta go for the Tickled Pink and the Mauve Movement. Though the Tickled Pink looks more like Tickled Peach to me.

Always love to try a new lip gloss/glaze/whatever they want to call it. Shades I’d like to sample are:
Mirage
Iced Pink
Dazzling Diamond

Glad I finally clicked over to your blog thx to our MTA Fail bonding 😉 (I’m @conceivednotion)

Supernova shiny! But like a Mirage, because I’d choose that shade to make you wonder if my lips were ever there at all!

“Sweet Maple” because I thought it said “Sweet Magpie”. Actually it’s a revolting color. “Darling Pink” is nicer.

My husband refuses to kiss me when I wear lipgloss. But you know what? I’m not always ‘in the mood’ and when I put on lip gloss, I can pretend its his fault that we are not doing it. “If you loved me, you would kiss me through my lipgloss!” always makes him run away, and leaves me to enjoy my book/blog/tv program in peace.

The “Intense Crimson” is my favorite

Apple cinnamon & cherry liqeur

And your lips look lucious!

I have given up on owning any kind of lip enhancement because my daughter has a serious problem with them and she steals them and ruins them. Maybe when she’s older I can rekindle my love affair with something other than the nasty tasting chap stick she won’t steal!

I just got my glazewear in the mail! I’m so excited! Wearing the Cherry Liquer color right now…and I’m totally glamorous!
