Have a Happy Weekend!

by Marinka on October 10, 2008

When my son was three, I got a call from the school asking Husbandrinka and me to come in for a meeting about him. I wanted to know what about him. They said that they would explain once we had the meeting. I said that I needed more information, and they finally told me: They were concerned about the way his body was in space.

Huh.

I wasn’t familiar with terms like that, so I asked if he’d been levitating because I can see how that could be alarming to people who are especially fond of gravity.

Turns out there was some concern that our son had sensory issues.

Ten million specialists later, it turned out that he didn’t have sensory issues, but he was, you know, a three year old boy.

But he always had drawing issues.

All his figures are stick. All his drawings were of the “Hmm, why don’t tell mommy what you see here, pumpkin!” variety.

I was totally ok with it, because, what, Van Gogh had such a happy life?

But recently he started drawing things that I love. (Ok, so I loved the stick figures too, even though they reminded me of bathroom signs).

And I display them with pride.

Super blog shout out to the first person who identifies that creature correctly, by the way.

Have a great weekend!
See you Monday.

It’s a swanrinka!

p.s. Thanks for the tag! You don’t think I’ve been blogging frequently enough, do you?

From my perfectly normal 11 year old boy who also drew stick figures SAID that is a some sort of bird – THAT WAY we have every bird covered.

I like the swanrinka guess, so I am going to second that.

(btw, as I posted another time – always go with your gut – meaning trust and believe in your kid, don’t listen to those that think they know things.)

It’s either a butterfly or Husbandrinka

It’s a jaundiced manatee. Duh. Oh, and it has a really abnormally long neck.

Swanrinka. Aha. Love. Flying yellow manatee. That swallowed a giraffe? Happy weekend.

Oh don’t get me started on my “different” kids….I’ve had more conferences than any one person should have to attend. Ugh…

And clearly, that is a seal.

Well, I cheated. I asked my three year old what it was. He said “A banana with a face”. So there you go.

And issues…my three year old is left handed. Maybe. The teacher isn’t sure. He uses his left hand for everything, but he’s more proficient at writing with his right hand. So I’m supposed to be figuring out which hand he ACTUALLY prefers. Because, and she actually said this, “We can’t force him to use his right hand. It will cause damage.” Like I ever even considered making him choose a hand.

Oh poop! I was so going to guess a banana with a face!! I mean what kid would’nt personify a banana and draw a bright blue sky looking environment for it to ‘fly’ in! Ok, maybe I…was’nt going to guess that. I thought it was a butterfly as well. 🙁
I honestly don’t know if this is a fair contest. I think your son was trying to trick me. o.O
I think we should play again.

Is it a Brontosaurus? We haven’t graduated to drawing things yet so I have no one under 3 to ask!

It’s you! Lounging on your sofa in your negligee the morning after a hard-drinking night.
I only say that because it looks like how I feel on a Saturday morning.

If not, I vote for a seal.

Of course he was a normal three year old boy, in the end. That pictures is great.

And what a stinking cute blog. “Hi!”

I was gonna say Swan, but I’ll make an original vote with catfish.

I was going for the ostrich/walrus offspring in flight. Ostrus? Walrich?

It looks like a bumblebee who narrowly missed being caught in the rain. Nicely done!

I think it is clearly an otter. I like his style!

You guys are cracking me up! But Melissa wins, and I love her cool confidence “clearly, that is a seal”. And the rest of you? Funny, but know so little about art. Sad, really. Funny and sad.

second place to Sophie, Inzaburbs!

I believe that to be a Water Horse.

I totally thought it was a Water Horse… but I can see where he is going with the seal concept.
