After I came home from Mom 2.0, I decided to renew my blogging efforts.
It’s not my fault. I met so many wonderful women and (even some wonderful men!) that I was inspired.
But since I was sort of tired of this whole “hard work” and “content is King” nonsense, I decided to go all American and buy an ad.
It was no-brainer about where.
I put a text-link on The Bloggess’ site. Because I love her and she gets tons of traffic.
Don’t I look adorable over there?
After a month, I can report this: My traffic has increased. On the other hand, I’ve been diagnosed with skin cancer. But still! My traffic has increased!
So if you want to increase your traffic, you should buy a text link from The Bloggess. Really. I recommend it.
But if you want your traffic to increase, but not so much, you can put a text link on this very blog. In the sidebar. This way, you can look pretty over here, but not be overwhelmed with hits on your website.
So to purchase a text link, send me your link, and Paypal over whatever amount you feel comfortable with for a month ($5 minimum) Update: Due to the debt ceiling, the monthly minimum is now $20 to MarinkaNYC@gmail.com.
And seriously, no pressure! I know that advertising on a blog of someone who has skin cancer is not everyone’s cup of tea. I understand.

No pressure on the link then. I’m glad you’re not going for the sympathy angle.

So my picture of my perfectly good nose will not be on your sidebar? Hmm, I need to think about this investment.

I want to be cool like Tracy too!
I actually found you through waitinthevan…I think! And probably all the increased traffic was me. Reading through your archives and then telling all my friends that they have to read your blog. Okay, maybe like 2% of the traffic was me, but still.

You have a mere TWELVE Google Friend Connections, the most important measurement of a blog’s success. I think not.
If you declare that you have syphilis you will ,most likely, get more traffic.

I’m not sure I can handle the increased traffic I might get from you. Right now I get maybe 30 hits a day, so I’m not sure what I’d do if that increased.
But it does sound intriguing.
I actually found you on ‘the bloggess’ blogsite ๐ glad I did, I like the blog. I’m still easing my way back into the blog world, so not sure I’m ready for heavy traffic just yet–lol

Congrats on your increased traffic. And great attitude regarding the extremely rude skin cancer!
I was thinking about purchasing a text link and what better person to buy from than my favorite blogger who also has skin cancer. Will be paypal-ing shortly.
I think that you are both awesome!
One day your AHA will come. Just like Oprah.
I have to assume The Blogess charges more than five bucks, so you may win by default.
I will be starting to sell prints of my photographs at some point this summer, so maybe an ad over here will drum up some business. We shall see…

Maybe I will take you up on that offer. I mean, how can you deny a woman with skin cancer! ๐

Can I buy you a drink?

Have you considered using ProjectWonderful.com ads? You can do them in all kinds of different sizes and it’s a bid-based ad system so all you have to do is approve the actual ad, and the money part handles itself. And it was started by webcomic dudes and has branched out from there, so it’s totally got indie intarwub cred. That’s… that’s a little like street cred, but probably significantly less cool.
Anyway. You can set a minimum cost per day or just let bidding go crazy on its own. It’s really cool, and I wish more bloggers used it so I could advertise easily with them. HINT, HINT. ๐

I will do this as soon as I figure out PayPal.
It’s already refused to let me in with my password twice.
and this has nothing to do with your whisperwhisper cancer whisperwhisper.
Ok I am FASCINATED by this whole idea of purchasing a link! Never even knew that was something people could so! I told my husband about it and he was like, “Sounds like a scam.” And then I said, “I don’t think so, it’s like, A REAL WEBSITE!” And then he just about killed himself laughing. Anyhoo, I think this is brilliant and I will totally figure out how to Paypal you $5. Oh and if you like Children’s Literature (and if you don’t then WHY NOT??), come visit me at http://www.juliasbookbag.com/! Aloha, Melissa
Um, in my excitement about sending $$ over the internet, apparently I forgot how to spell, which is funny especially since my site is about books and reading and whatnot. That sentence above should have read : “never knew that was something people could DO!” If you let me correct my typo, I’ll throw in some extra dollars! ๐
