Note to Self

by Marinka on November 9, 2012

When you write a wrist-slasher of a post, keep in mind that people who know you in real life will call you and/or email you and ask you if you’re ok and if there is anything they can do to help. And it’ll be awkward but don’t be so hasty with the “oh no, I’m fine” because “well, I do have several loads of laundry with your name on it, if you want to be of help and the kitchen doesn’t seem to be cleaning itself” accompanied by a heavy sigh and a vacant look will do nicely too. And people want to help, you know, it makes them feel better, so why not let them?

But thank you for all the comments, and emails and calls and all the good things that you are sending my way (they’re on their way, right?) And special thanks to funny lady Barb who saw that I was down and knowing how much I wanted an orange tabby of my own, decided to show off. It made me laugh. And weep. Because she has an orange tabby and I have a color-blind husband.

I know how lucky I am.

I care! And I hope you get your happy back.
If you want a care package of Rumchata (good with coffee in the morning) and Cheryl’s Chocolate Chip cookies – I’m your man! But really, I guess I’d be your woman, since I’m not a man. But “I’m your man” sounds cooler.

This makes *me* happy to read, and by putting that bit of happy “out there,” it *has* to come back to you!

That’s how physics works, right?

Oh, Marinka, you gotta know: there’s a whole slew of us who love you out here.

Like, a lot of us.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. It’s been a rough few weeks.

Well shit if that is all it would take I can totally box up my orange tabby right now and send him via post. I’m sure he’ll be fine. You will love him.

I don’t usually comment. But I read you, always. You’re my favourite-favourite blogger. Not only because you’re Russian and I lived there for four years but for many other reasons, too. And you don’t have to be funny all the time. And I think it’s very important that you posted when you were down because it is sooo hard to ask for help and so tempting to put on a good face. We should all learn from you.

I feel your pain. I’m one tabby away from being crazy cat lady.

I grew up with two beautiful orange tabbies, named Cinnamon and Nutmeg. (What can I say? I was 9 when I named them…) So that means I win, right? Love you!!

Perhaps you can see if Barb would be willing to trade her orange tabby for a color blind husband. You have to keep your options open!

My orange tabby is sitting like a latke in the middle of the floor, shedding fur as we speak. You don’t know what you are missing.

I think it’s time you get a real orange tabby. You deserve it.
