Spoiler Saturday

by Marinka on November 15, 2008

I don’t mean to ruin this for anyone, but yesterday when I was on my way to work, I noticed that the Christmas tree was at Rockefeller Center already. But looking slightly more horizontal that usual.

Also, the Saks Fifth Avenue windows have been under wraps for a week, so I am expecting something spectacular. Also, they have put up those amazing snowflakes on the building, although I don’t think that they will light them up for a few weeks.  That will give me enough time to figure out how to use the flash on my camera.

Because now I don’t know how to do it.  So my pictures in the dark look like this:

Fancy, right? And doesn’t it make you suspect that I work as Batman?

I just surfed over here because you comment on the Froggy Books on another blog made me laugh so hard that my coffee is all over the keyboard.

You are hilarious and terrific!

Over looking Lexington Avenue?

wfbdoglover November 15, 2008 at 10:24 am

no, no, 2nd or third…

I would have pegged you as The Joker or possibly even Catwoman instead of Batman.

Nice view.

Marinka? Don’t you know a camera flash is the devil incognito? Seriously. Bad! Evil! Sinful!

Consult your owners manual. If you read it backwards, it will tell you the flash is the devil.

Do you have the cool batman car too? I’d hang with you if you did.

Guess what? I’m coming to NYC to see the tree, and I’ve decided to stay with YOU!!!!

All my night shots come out blurry. One of these years I’m going to learn how to actually work my camera.

Braja November 15, 2008 at 8:02 pm

Where does Batman hide his camera….

I love reading your NYC stuff…I have always been infatuated with this city, I think it’s great. 🙂 I hope you live up every minute of it…even if you are on lock-down from the plastic.

It looks a little pathetic all tied down like that. Looking forward to the pictures of it all upright and fluffed. No flash required? Let’s hope.

Can’t wait to see the tree pictures when it’s up. It looks awfully small laying there.

Oh, I cried when Edward left. I was also on the verge of tears when Jacob told Bella they couldn’t be friends.

Use a tripod. If all you have is a “point and shoot” consult your manual on how to turn it to manual so that you can adjust your f/stop and shutter speed.

If you have an SLR, set it to manual and set your f/stop at about 8.0 and your shutter speed, well you’ll just have to experiment with that. Or you can just email me.

But your night shot actually looks pretty good.

what? the tree is up? i didn’t hear a thing about this.

Andy November 17, 2008 at 7:22 am

Did you take that picture crouched next to a gargoyle? That makes it even better.
And your readers are passionate about photography, it seems.

Kristine November 17, 2008 at 8:20 am

I am rarely awake late enough to take night shots, but my experience has been, no flash = better picture, otherwise the flash makes it look like day. And I have no knowledge of this shutter speed business.

The tree looks so sad on its side. Hopefully it’s upright now?

I LOVE Christmas decorations… But why, oh why, do they have to be put up so early?!?!
