Moody

by Marinka on December 7, 2009

I am moody and not just because moody is Russian slang for testicles. See? This blog is educational. But I am. Moody, I mean, not testicles.
There are days when I feel depressed and that’s when I call my friends to tell them.
“I’m depressed,” I say. And although I’ve never been suicidal (except for a brief period while watching Twilight last year), for some reason I worry that whoever I’m talking to will think that I am suicidal. So when I say “I’m depressed,” I like to follow it up with a reassuring, “but I’m really happy!” so that they know that it’s nothing serious.
For some reason, this makes my friends worry that I am insane.

Weirdos.

(oh, and by the way, I’m not depressed NOW, this is a reflection on when I was. Although if you’d like to send a small to medium sized gift to cheer me up, that’s OK, too.)

I’ll make sure to be careful saying ‘moody’ around Russian acquaintances…

“Moody” is Russian slang for testicles??
Cool. I guess it makes just a little less sense than “balls.”
Presents usually make me feel less depressed too. Unless they suck.

I’m broke, so I’m not sending gifts. My kids are lucky they’re getting anything for Christmas at all, this rate. And forget stocking stuffers. As far as I’m concerned, the only stockings getting stuffed are the socks on their feet, and their toes will have to do.

Oh wait, this wasn’t about me, was it? Sorry. It’s about YOU. Poor, not-really-depressed-but-moody you. My bad. I tend to get all self-centered like that. I’m such a jerk.

(((hugs)))

I am moody and cantankerous and bitchy and all that is not right with the world today. I am hoping that this cloud passes and I am my normal bubbly, well not really bubbly .. . but less DIRE self than I am today.

otherwise I am screwed. because today I can’t even pretend” that i am really happy.” 🙁

Oh, yippee! You mentioned Twilight in your post! Just kidding… I get depressed all the time, too… but not like, suicidal depressed, just like, “I have no time for myself my clothes don’t fit me I never sleep anymore my house is always a mess my kids are so demanding I will never ever stop worrying about them until I die and why am I breaking out again, I’m 33 for fuck’s sake” kind of depressed.

Marinka – this is BS. I’ve got myself all convinced that my moodiness is due to living in California and that moving to New York is going to solve it forever. Thanks for bursting my bubble.

Seriously moody is Russian slang for testicles? This is very good information for me. I will use this to say something completely freaky to The Russian at Christmas. I may be his mother-in-law in the future. Best to let him know early that I will keep him on his toes. And that I may be insane so he better treat her right.
