I have a new post all ready to go, but due to WordPress’ anti-Semitism, I am having rotational issues with a photograph.  So while I wait for emergency crews to arrive, I’ll do something that I don’t normally do.

I’ll tell you about a dream I had last week.  Don’t worry, it’ll be short.

I was in Paris with some dad that I don’t know and his son.  We were taking a taxi.  And the boy threw up.

When I told mama this dream and asked her what it meant, she said, “it means you ate too much dinner.”

And now this, from papa.

The other day, papa called me and said, “I have something for you to ask your blog!” and I was just about to get all “You can’t tell me what to ask my blog! I have integrity and I won’t have people telling me what to ask my blog!” but then I thought, “What if it’s something really good?! And I can get a post out of it?”

So I asked him and he told me that he found his great-great-great-grandfather’s grave in Russia and it turns out that his name was Abel.  “That murderer Cain’s brother! I want you to ask the blog what kind of a person would name their child that.” So I said, “Why not Abel? There are people named Montezuma.” And he said, “Montezuma is a nice name. But Abel isn’t.” Ask them.

So I am asking you: Do you know anyone named Abel? And what kind of a person would name their child that.

It may have been wishful thinking if the older brother was a pain in the arse. You never know.

I’m cool with Abel.

Not cool w/ Adolf, a little freaked out by Jesus, and not liking Damian (too many horror movies at a pre-teen).

My cousin is named Abel. But that part of the family are the crazy Jehovah’s Witnesses, so take this as you will.

Papa is so cutting edge. Abel is totally the next celebrity name–girl or boy.

p.s. thank you for complying with the dream-telling guide you posted on my blog (still makes me LOL)

I thought Lael’s mom wrote “unicorn baby”

Abel is a nice name for a unicorn baby, actually.

One of my cousins is a Labor and Delivery/NICU nurse. She said they had a girl come in a few years ago, who named her baby Chlamydia. Said it sounded pretty. Nothing my cousin said, changed the girls mind. After that, nothing sounds all that bad as a baby name. Able, meh..I’ve never met one. But at least he wasn’t named after a disease.

Laughing so hard, I can barely answer. Nope, no Abels that I can think of off hand… But, to be fair, I also don’t know any Cains.

I do know an Abel. His son’s name is AJ short for Abel Junior. Although I recently found out that Abel is technically Abel Junior because his father’s name was Abel as well. Which means that Abel Junior is actually Abel the Third or as we have taken to calling him Abel Junior Junior. Apparently only confused families name their sons Abel.

My great uncle was called Abel AND he was a Russian Jew.

Take that, Papa.

I don’t think Abel’s a bad name, either. I’m thinking of putting it on my list of boy’s names. Just to spite your Papa.

And I think you had that dream because of that Balloon Boy.

I know a guy who’s last name is Abel. One of the kindest people i’ve ever met.

Names that trouble me belong to the rising fashion for Israeli parents to give their daughters boys’ names and their sons girls’ names.

there’s a show that comes on about a motorcycle gang and one of the characters is named Abel. his son on the show is also named Abel. so i guess if you’re alright with your son being a member of a motorcycle gang, Able is an alright name.

What kind of person gives their child the name Yuda (Yehuda)? My great-great-great grandma, to her son. It’s not like people named Yuda got pogrommed or anything. It’s like waving an Israeli flag in the middle of Tikrit. What was my great-great-great grandma, Feiga, thinking?

I have a really good friend named, Abel. Wise, even-keeled kind of guy. Nice. I mean, wasn’t Abel the good guy in the story? The victim? Now, if you went and named a kid “Cain,” I’d have a problem with that. That’s just asking for him to end up in the state pen.

My daughter has a crush on an Able. He’s very cute. I like the name. Unless he likes her back.
