Crap That Doesn’t Make Sense

Have you seen this ad?

The ad says “learn to anticipate” and although we can all agree that anticipation is a wonderful thing, perhaps suggesting that building the World Trade Center shorter, so that the high-flying terrorists who hijacked the planes on September 11th missed it, is not what you want for your corporate message. A few days before the 9th anniversary of the biggest terrorist attack on United States soil, no less.

And isn’t it Alanis Morissette ironic that the the braniacs behind this ad did not anticipate the backlash against their assholeness?

Please expose this as a hoax.

Or at least tell me what the fuck they’re advertising so that I can boycott it forever. (Except if it’s the Real Housewives franchise, of course. I believe in second chances, after all).

When will people learn that some things will always be sensitive and it will ALWAYS be too soon to reference it in any way but solemnity and reverence. Like when people show depictions of Muhammad. It’s the same thing. It’s a sacred thing. It will never be OK. Some may consider it unreasonable, but try having some damn compassion and respect. Doesn’t everyone have a “thing” that shouldn’t be jerked around with?

Personally, for me it’s “SnackleFarkus”. You must never utter that word in my presence or I will have to shoot something. Ever since a certain person broke my heart lo, those many years ago, I cannot bear to hear that word. It is a painful reminder and should not be toyed with.

Hilarious! I wonder if ads of Jews sneaking out of 1930s Germany in snazzy sports cars ended up on the cutting room floor.

I was so confused for like five minutes because I thought it said “Learn to Participate” and I was like – was there a vote when the towers were built that I didn’t know about?

But anticipate? That doesn’t even make sense. I mean, besides being REALLY assholey, it’s a BAD AD. Double whammy!

Are they saying the buildings were in a terrorist flight path. Because that’s just stupid and insensitive.

What kind of idiot thought this would even be slightly well-received? I will rest well tonight knowing that the world still has an adequate number of shitheads.

Oh my. This level of idiocy would be awesome to make fun of, if I wasn’t this offended by this stupid, senseless, shameless, pointless – and however many other -less words you can think of – piece of junk.

Wait! Wait! I’m a New Yorker living in France (married to a frenchman). They’re not all bad. There is apparently one or two in advertising who are missing a brain.

Maginot line is the least of their problems.

They are genetically engineered collaborators.

Gestapo had enameled plaques posted in their headquarters in Paris announcing that they do not accept new reports any more.

I hope that more Moroccans will settle there.

Dear People Who Read My Blog (Except for Awesome Dude),

Awesome Dude is my father. You know him as Papa. Awesome Dude leaves inappropriate comments on my blog and every once in a while I delete them and then he checks back and asks me if I deleted them and I forget to lie and say “what comment?” and say “yes” and he says that my deleting it is censorship and anti-Semitism.

So I’m leaving his comments up, but please know that his opinions do not reflect my own.

Because this Golden Delicious did indeed fall far from that tree.

As for the French? We can thank them for Lady Liberty, that’s about it. The French say AMERICANS are rude…doubt that!

Really?!? What genius thought this would be good advertising? Ugh – sometimes I think freedom of speech should be earned instead of given. OK, not really. But I wish some people weren’t so STUPID.

My guess is that it’s quite deliberate to rile everyone up, which seems to be working. Utterly tasteless.

Ugh. Why do you have to be so smart and in the know? I could have happily gone without knowing about this. And what the fuck are they advertising?

(PS Is Papa speaking in code?)

Whoever approved this ad is what what President Obama said about Kanye West: ‘a jackass’. I don’t think we need to talk about them and their made up company or hoax anymore. Like the Koran burning jackass. Give him his 2 minutes. Then make him go away. He does not need a world stage for his nonsense. Lets move on to more important matters like Marinka’s recipe for Vodka Martini. Looking for a good one …

So, the Pentagon was also built too high above ground (all five floors of it) and thereby in the flightpath of terrorists? You’re right – this is definitely crap that doesn’t make sense.

Oh my!

If you guys hate “The French” so much, don’t EVER go to to DisneyLand Paris… (Or EuroDisney as it was when I went. They ruined Disney by changing character names, and making them speak French and well, just their normal lack of friendliness.

As for the Ad… insensitivity personified!

To be clear, I’m from England, not Europe, because France is in Europe too!

I don’t hate the French, I just think they do stupid things (a lot) but if I went to France I certainly wouldn’t go to DisneyLand Paris! I would totally hit the Palace of Versailles and demand they let me live there because I have some long dead (like centuries) French relatives, who I am sure were royalty and I really need to live like a Queen in order to vindicate them and their cake eating friends. I would totally throw a part at the P of V and invite Marinka!
