Get Ready For Snark!

by Marinka on March 3, 2011

Today is Thursday, which means that tomorrow is US Weekly Chat on Motherhood in NYC, or as some losers refer to it, Friday.  This would be a wonderful time for you to go out and grab a copy of US Weekly so that tomorrow, when the discussion is underway, you’re not all “d’oh!” and “I didn’t realize that it would today” and a whole bunch of other excuses that no one bought in high school either.

Or, if you’re on a budget, just go to the grocery store and paw through the latest issue.

And here’s a little Q&A I put together to answer some questions that you probably didn’t even know you had about US Weekly Chat.

What is US Weekly Chat?

US Weekly Chat is a post that I put up every Friday afternoon.  I’ll recap some of the more important stories and points and lovingly open it up for discussion.

Can anyone join US Weekly Chat?

Yes. US Weekly Chat is open to all U.S. residents, age 18 and over.  Fine, we’ll take some foreigners, too.

What if I have nothing to say?

NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT CELEBRITIES? Report to your nearest emergency medical care establishment where they will run your vitals.  You should probably fill out a toe tag while you’re at it.

Why are you doing this?

This is my way of giving back to the blogging community that I love so much. I’m a giver.  And a winner.

Why did you pick US Weekly instead of another weekly, like People or OK?

Excellent question, even if I did make it up myself.

US Weekly is perfect because it focuses exclusively on celebrities, so there’s none of that “Real People” nonsense that People likes to bring out.  And I refuse to believe that one word of OK is true, including the name of the rag.

Will be have a badge to proudly display our membership and participation in US Weekly Chat?

Not yet.

It can’t be a blog thing if it don’t have no bling.

US Weekly Chat is less about flashy bling and more about intellectual development.

Huh?

Exactly.

I haven’t read US Weekly but I’m still planning on participating because even if what I have to say makes no logical sense whatsoever, I am still a winner.

Dude. MamaPop apparently hates me because I left a comment on your post there, and MamaPop just ate it. ATE IT, I tell you. So, I’m sorry. But you still only have one comment over there. And I’m leaving a comment here to tell you I love you because apparently MamaPop doesn’t want you to know that. It might be a conspiracy or something, so you should look into that.

my mom purchased a subscription to OK mag for me. i used to get USWeekly but figured it’s a free mag so i’ll take it. but by the time i remembered it’s the one weekly that covers all Kardashian news all the time, and gives the cover to at least one of the offspring every other week or so, she had already paid for it and it was on its way. i know all the latest celeb gossip anyways, so i’ll definitely stop by tomorrow to participate. i’m excited!

ps – does Awesome Dude participate?

Yay to MamaPop, and you are meant to be there.

You know I’ll be there, every Thursday.

And you know that feeling of delight that you experienced at being invited to write for MamaPop? So glad you have a point of reference, because now…you know exactly how I felt when I received your email inviting me to guest post.

True dat, sister.

Wowza, a couple of weeks respite from blogging and you’ve fulfilled your destiny?! I’m taking a vacation from the web for sure.

And ad hoc celebrity commenter – I need this in my life. I can talk celebrity at expert level. Almost like I’m …dare I say it…a celebrity of celebrity talking. You get it.

Your words ooze hilarity. The best part is that you make it look so effortless. That is all.

Yet another reason to move to the US : participation in Marinka’s US weekly Chat is impossible, since we don’t get US weekly here.

You’ll take foreigners! Peachy! I knew you were a humanitarian. It’s bad enough that we are culturally challenged by not living in the U. S, but we were almost denied the pleasure of taking the mickey out of people with more money and ego than sense.
OK, so we don’t get the mag here in Oz and that’s a minor problem but I feel qualified to give social comment. Lack of knowledge has never stopped me before.
…and I feel American. I was there last in 1988 and visited Disneyland. Celebrities?…well I have a picture of myself with Mickey Mouse, and you know HE must be hiding something…

I hate that “real people” crap too. Who cares about surrogacy, cancer or hometown heroes?

But you? You really are a giver. A hometown hero even. Thank you.
