Merry Christmas! From My Oven to Yours

by Marinka on December 22, 2010

Today my mama stayed with the kids and they made Christmas cookies.

If there’s anything more wonderful than your flesh and blood baking, I don’t know what it is. And by “flesh and blood baking,” I mean them actually doing the baking, not them being baked.

English is so confusing.

Anyway, here’s what they made!

Hello, snowflake! You are green and glittery!

Hi, wreath! You look like you're covered with snow! Fun!

Nice to see you, Rudolph! I see that more than your nose is red!

Ho ho ho, Santa! What's with the Sieg Heil?

Erm? Whale? The Christmas Whale? (Possibly with sperm)

Much better. Whale with sprinkles!

Wait, are you actually a Christmas stocking? Why didn't you say so?

Merry Christmas to you and yours! May your Christmas stockings be easily identifiable!

I think that might be Santa’s sleigh? And it appears that I can see what Rudolph had for dinner.

I think it’s a partridge, you know, like the one from the pear tree.

Our Christmas cookies always end up in crazy shapes — one year, all race cars; one year, dinosaurs; etc. Then we ice them in red and lurid purple and other hilarious colors. All of which is to say that I’m all about the wacky whale one.

Also, having read back a little bit, I’m also all about the double contraction (not to be confused with the double negative). It’d sound pretty good.

I agree with the santa’s sleigh comment – but they also look like quails. Are there christmas quails? They’re beautiful cookiesn- you’re lucky!

And no, there’s nothing better than baking flesh and blood. Unless it’s the flesh and blood you married making madelines….that’s what’s happening here at the moment! While I sit in the recliner no less.

But baking being baked is sooo much fun!

*dying* Oh no, Santa!

It is Santa’s sleigh, actually, the stocking looks more like an actual stocking ( at least in my christmas cookies set).
Merry Christmas to you too!

I thought it was a Dove of Peace…

Sticking with the bird theme, I thought it was a penguin (you know, all snowy).

Kind of looks like a wannabe Loboutin. Your Beautiful Daughter’s handiwork?

Are you sure the “whale” isn’t a “lord a’leaping”?

My poor sweet stepmama (who is an Episcopal priest, which makes this worse) thought she would be all festive and make Christmas cookies shaped like candles in holders. You know… a long, upright cylindrical piece, with 2 rounded pieces on either side at the bottom…. Yes, she has made weenie cookies. Who’s gonna tell her?

I didn’t know that baking my children was an option. It’s officially on my “to do” list for the vacation.

I think it’s a slug.

Could be wrong, but pretty sure that last cookie is Florida.

Merry Christmas!

I really like the sperm. I mean, I like the sperm whale. I mean, I like cookies. Shit.

I think it’s Picasso channeling Gogol. Or his nose? One of the two, and revelations are in order:
Our tiny family of Eastern European mutts adores you. Can we get you a permanent I-am-always-right-and-suffering-because-of-it card? Or a nose?

kimberly December 23, 2010 at 9:32 pm

are you sure that’s Santa’s arm and not his penis!

Marinka December 24, 2010 at 12:20 pm

what kind of penis swings over the shoulder?! ho ho ho, indeed.

OH, you are so good at what you do.

Simply hilarious.

Merry Christmas!

Whatever those things are, they looked like fun! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

My initial reaction was dove.

Hope you had a great holiday.

I think Jen’s right, it’s a partridge. Because of that little…partridgy thingy that sticks up on it’s head. I know this because I was a huge Partridge Family fan as a child. They have a thingy.

Or maybe it’s a slug.
