Take Your Eyes in Your Teeth

by Marinka on January 20, 2010

I don’t know what the suicide rate is in Russia, but if it’s not 200%, I demand a recount.

Because Russians are mean.

Like, let’s say that you lost something and are looking for something.
Instead of being American-helpful and asking you where you saw the item last, Russians will say, “take your eyes in your teeth.” Because that’s the secret to locating an object: toothy eyes.

Ok, that’s the post for the day. Nice and short. And speaking of which, you know how sometimes you read a blog post and all is right with the world. That happened to me this morning and I’ve been smiley ever since. Yay for good news

So my grandmother has been in the US for a week and a half and is comparing it to Eden. That’s because everyone in Poland is wicked mean.

Yay for Kelcey! Off to congratulate her myself.

I feel like this might help explain all of the borscht.

I have heard the suicide rate is higher there than anywhere. Or used to be. Like the time the limited the sale of vodka. Cleaning fluid sales jumped up like 200%. I bet the suicide rate did too. Cause drinking cleaning fluid is suicide. Give those Russians their damn vodka. I mean it. And send us some.

so if you’re a crossed-eye russian, do you go to the orthodontist to get your eyes straightened out?

I have to say you have me intrigued… I am Russian, but can’t for the life of me think of what saying you’re referring to.

My favorite (ok, not favorite at all) romanian helping-you-find-stuff wordages:

“stand crooked and think straight”
“if it were a bare butt you’d have seen it by now”
